		<description><![CDATA[Thank you very much for this article. I love the ASIFA website and come here often to study the gems you unearth. Although I&#039;m no animator I&#039;m a puppeteer. And the value of pantomime is as much a part of my business as it is of animation.

Churchill in his wish for another filmmaker making wordless movies seems to me like a prophet and his wish was fulfilled by another of the all time greats: JACQUES TATI. Tati came from the same vaudeville background as Chaplin and he, too made essentially silent movies until PLAYTIME and TRAFIC in the Seventies. But  contrary to Chaplin he did extremely detailed and completely synthetic SOUNDTRACKS in his movies. Here the emphasis is on SOUNDtracks because he exaggerated the sound of all the objects and everyday things Tatis characters live in.
