This is eerily similar to how I work.

Not a single goddamn one? No Joe Rinaldi? No Bill Peet? No Don Dagradi? I thought the CalArts regurgitators would know THOSE at least...

To be honest, Warren Foster was made for Hanna-Barbera. He doesn't have Pierce's flowery writing and pacing, or Maltese's solidity and robust humor (which I personally prefer...any coincidence that he was involved in that period in about 1946 where Friz Freleng made his best cartoons?)
His forte is that he knows perfectly how to shuffle a cold, mechanical gag...and it's so awesome that you get warmth when you combine a cold production team with a cold writer. ^^

Milt Schaffer I also thought had decent taste. Without him, Bugs Hardaway would have dragged Lantz down into punny dreamland. (I mean worse than it already was.)
And...favorite Golden Age cartoon writer? I'd go for Maltese. (My favorite of all time is Vance Gerry, but he's a few decades too late. It's depressing that he had to do his stuff during the nadir of Disney animation...)
