Inbetweens: Fred Rogers Defends Meaningful Children’s Programming

In 1969, Fred Rogers appeared before the United States Senate Subcommittee on Communications. His goal was to support funding for PBS and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, in response to significant proposed cuts by President Nixon.

    The man is a genius and not one time did he look down, to read a thing and spoke from the heart. Glad he won, education should be the only thing that cant be cut or in fact funded more. To rise above mediocrity and evolve.

    Man I really miss this guy…he was a national treasure and a credit to humanity.

    Sadly our children have no Mr. Rogers, only the episodes on DVD – which don't seem to be enough.

    I cried like my own father died when he died. I like how he was the same in his personal life as he was on tv, it was no act.

    Thank you, Mr. Rogers, for telling me I can never go down the drain when I was little. And I loved the Crayola Factory. We miss you so…
